I’ve been a full-time freelance commercial illustrator since 2008. Prior to that I was employed at both Hallmark (18 years) and American Greetings (6 years). Currently I work on just about any time of illustration that is not greeting card art- magazines, advertising, T-shirts, pet and people portraiture. And lately I’ve been trying to get back to my first love, fine art- especially pen and ink and watercolor.

I was a medical-electronics design engineer until about 20 years ago, when stumbling upon a long "chorus line" of pelicans inspired me to share my nature and (mostly local) landscape photos! Maybe you've already seen some that LHAG has very kindly exhibited? Karen Boehme Artist

Karen's art is often described as upcycled, assemblage, or mixed-media, but she calls it “dimensional collage”. One-of-a-kind pieces are hand-assembled, with layers of materials, mostly "junk" (metal, paper, wood, glass, natural items) that find new life contributing to a story of discovery and visual narrative.

Art of Modeling

Founded in 2019, Art of Modeling trains and recruits professional nude fine art models who we book for drop-in drawing groups, art centers, studio artists, and for instructed classes at high schools, community colleges, universities, and art schools throughout the Boulder/Denver metro
areas. Each month we utilize our in-house talent to produce a dozen drop-in nude figurative drawing and painting opportunities for local artists at the NoBo Art Center in North Boulder.

Deborah Kelly

For years, I thought I couldn't do art because I have a visual-spatial learning disorder. As it turns out, I was wrong. An "accidental" phone call changed the way I see art and the way I see myself as an artist. I was guided to approach art from a spiritual/meditative place and detach from the perfectionism I so often embody. As I have developed as an artist, I have broadened my perspective by embracing art as a form of play. That's how Playful Days Decor was born. Now, I get to spend my time being "Playful on Purpose."

My passion for the beauty of art started when I was very young. I could spend hours drawing in my bedroom and imagining what to create next. My mother was a saint for letting me use her plates for paint palettes and the mixer to mix paste paper. As I grew older, my intense desire to always be creating just grew. I admired both of my Grandmothers who were artists in their own right. My Grandma Dauenbaugh did leather tooling and wove beautiful rugs which she sold. My Grandma Hayes was an intricate china painter. I could stand for hours staring in the china cabinet at each beautiful hand painted piece.

I followed my calling and became an art teacher where the love of art and importance of art in everyone’s life was made apparent. I am grateful for what I learned about art and about people in those years of teaching. I will always be an advocate for the arts in all schools.

Today I am a full time artist where each day I have the privilege of painting. My art is continually evolving, just as I am as a person. Each day brings new beginnings, new hope, and new vision. Much of my art is inspired by the great outdoors and its landscapes and the love I have for animals big and small. My work is an ongoing reflection of new growth as it portrays my life experiences and dreams.

I love it that my paintings have been described as “boldly beautiful”. Color makes me happy and brings me joy. My wish is that my art transports the viewer to a place of peace and joy.

David Sockrider

I'm David Sockrider, and I'm a life-long artist, illustrator, and designer based out of Ward, Colorado. I currently work full-time painting images for retail sale and client commissions. My favorite medium is acrylic on untreated wood panels. I've painted hundreds of live concerts all around Colorado, but recently I've been focused on larger more time-intensive work in the studio. For the last year, I've been illustrating special publications for the Mountain-Ear newspaper out of Nederland, CO. Other recent projects include 3 paintings displayed in an interactive exhibition in the Nature Center at the Trading Post at Red Rocks Amphitheater. Past projects included all-access backstage passes for Red Rocks Amphitheater.

Inspiration for my art comes from a range of artistic styles, including psychedelia, visionary, abstract, realism, art nouveau, impressionism, and expressionism. Sharp line work, spirals, color bands and dot patterns are repeated elements in my work. Subject matter is usually fantasy visions with Colorado animals in surreal scenes. I like to mix up my subject matter depending on my mood.

David Michael Boyd – GuitARTist

I use the word “GuitARTist” to attempt to describe my paradigm for playing the guitar and making music in performance settings. The idea is that other creative elements can be added to playing and singing songs, such as visual art and storytelling. I also repair and build guitars, which adds another dimension of creativity to what I do as the guitars themselves become a work of art on display. They are art that can make art.

The best expression of all of this is my multi-media performance that utilizes 5 to 8 guitars, and tells their stories against a backdrop of poetry and visual art. On a simpler scale, I do instrumental guitar shows, can bring a blues band, and also love to share music that has been written in workshops with incarcerated individuals in Colorado.

Colorado native Brandon Hodges is passionate about nature and wildlife. On Brandon’s 11th birthday, he received a SLR camera from his grandfather. Within a few years, he had a camera in his hands most of the time and was in the darkroom printing his own pictures.

His passion for photography has grown and often provides the motivation to explore and find new unique shots all around Colorado and wherever his travels take him. With Brandon’s pursuit of capturing landscape, nature, and wildlife with his photography his hope is to record and communicate moments of paradise in nature and to share these moments with others through his photos and prints.
